Be A Playground Hero – Great Website to Check Out

A fantastic website worth checking out is “Be A Playground Hero” .

This site is actively looking for HEROES to help build playgrounds designed with all children in mind; playgrounds with the right equipment & surfacing solutions to accommodate everyone’s needs. The site is http://www.beaplaygroundhero.com/ and states “We want to celebrate all those people, businesses and groups who help us achieve our dream as they are true HEROES and deserve to be celebrated.”

“Be A Playground Here” is loaded with good advice and a real world look at how playgrounds happen. They are based in Alberta, but they also link to other good resources, like this CTV News link to an excellent report on an inclusive playground that was just opened in Halifax.

Mini-train, Bowness Park, Best playground in Calgary, Train playground

Mini-train Back In Action In Bowness Park!

Both residents and visitors to Calgary love Bowness Park. The PlayPower Canada playground there is one of the best play areas in the city. The Calgary Playground Review states “This playground entertained my kids for so long we didn’t even get to check out the rest of the park. Younger kids will love the ramps and the train structure and older kids will love running up high on the bigger climber.”

Now the park’s mini-train is back in action! The train, damaged by the 2013 flood, has been lovingly restored. This summer is a great time to get outdoors, play, and enjoy all the thrills of childhood.

For more information on Bowness Park, the mini-train schedule and tickets, please visit the University of Calgary Outdoor Centre website.
